Until meeting you guys here, I never looked at Craigslist. I think I about stalk it now!!!

And, "bad" thing is in addition to stalking aquariums on it, I've gotten it in my head that I could give a little kitten who needs a home a home... And I probably do not need another fur kid!

The ONLY thing that holds my MTS at bay and me only LOOKING at craigslist is that not many tanks fit in a 2008 Honda Accord Coupe! :hmm3grin2orange:

Nice! Congrats!

I also check craigslist about every day...got the 29g/stand (free), 55g/stand, and 75g/stand all from craigslist. I really need to stop looking, no room for more tanks...

Yeah, this one makes 16 :ssuprised: . My utilities aren't too bad - I don't have any live plants so the lights are basic and are only on for 6 or 7 hours a day. If I had high output lights on all the tanks someone might think I was growing something non-aquatic:hmm3grin2orange:

Good cover story though. Cops come in to look around and see all the tanks, miss the back bedroom with the "crop"...:hmm3grin2orange:

Oh and WOOT !!!! 500th post!

LOL that reminds me of last weekend, my wife had a baby shower and there's my tank that I spend all my free time on in the corner, with towels completely covering it .. my wife tried explaining to them I was doing "blackout" to kill off algae... I swear I could see what some of them were thinking lol...

But yeah.. I think craigslist has become every serious fish enthusiasts best friend, definitely a major innovation to the hobby.

I only grow live plants in one of my tanks, but back when I was running 3 tanks my light bill was about 20-30 higher than it is now that I'm only running one.

You must be doing at least 2 water changes everynight?

I have a python, so I do all the tanks at once. 50% changes in each tank takes about 2.5 hours.

I was thinking about getting a second python, so I can have two going at once :)

Pythons sound amazing.. I've never checked em out.. I'm lucky my syphon tube just sticks out the nearest window.. I'm sure the plants around the foundation love it...

Also try and consider the Aqueon Water Changer. Due to a recommendation I got this over the python. Cheaper than a python and perhaps stronger as well.

if I ever need to get a second one though, I'd just do the DIY one using the waterbed filler..same mechanism, much cheaper :)

Like I said the end of my syphon sticks out the window, I have an adapter for my 20' garden hose which is able to reach from the kitchen sink to my tank.. It works great and its dirt cheap lol.

The thing I like about the Python (I have the Aqueon version) is on the refilling. I can stick the hose out my window all day long to get the water OUT, but the python sure helps out getting the new water back IN!:hmm3grin2orange:

Craigslist is good but ive also been burned on there before...Well kinda...I had a perfect 75 gallon set up a LFS was selling,it was one of there display tanks. $200 but no stand. I found a stand for $50. The day before i was going to pick up the tank a guy 1 mile from me had a 75 gallon set up for $150 i told him i didnt need the stand. So he said $125. Id save $75 without having to drive 45mins to the store. He had a 125 gallon tank in the front room and was building a 400 gallon in the wall tank.:18: :18: distraction!!!! I trusted him so much i didnt pay attention to what i was buying. He told me the glass tops was cracked but had me put back together...Hang on back 150W heater, 55 gallon hang on back filter that had a rubber tube as the intake. He had this as a turtle tank so it fit what he needed. So id have to buy another filter and another heater and new glass pieces. So i posted the tank back on craigslist. 2 weeks it didnt sell. So i went to the LFS paid $200 got tank with Emperor 400 biowheel and H.O.T. Canister 250,300 Watt heater, glass tops,light,2 piece of wood, gravel, rock caves and a few filter pads. So i switched it out for the parts. crappy tank matched my stand. It all worked out for me thank god!!!!!! I sold the tank for $125 and he was gonna use it for turtles.

It helps if the seller actually ANSWERS your emails!!

When my hex tank was leaking (last weekend) I looked on craigslist and found a 30g tank/stand/hood for $30. I have emailed the seller TWICE, no response. I asked if it was still for sale and offered to buy, but he/she can't be bothered to answer me yes or no. Irritating. :stickwhack:

It's still posted, too. You'd think if it were sold, the seller would remove the listing.

That means it's sold already. Occasionally someone will email me to tell me it's sold, but most just aren't considderate.

Guess I need to be quicker, but at the time I was a bit distracted.

Plus, I fixed my 27 (no more leak), so I doubt I could make my hubby understand why I need a new (used) tank.

Most of the ones I'm seeing a wa-a-a-ay too big for me!!

i've just been reacently diagnosed with MTS. The doctor said i should eat a lot more seafood, specifically salmon and trout to become more detached to my hobby, before it overcomes my life.

I work on a fishing boat and kill thousands of fish a year. Figure that one out:sconfused:
