View Full Version : Mini-Me

I just found my male crown tail betta "Mini-Me" dead. By the looks of him and one of the females in the tank it was a failed mating. He was a small but perky little guy... sad to see him go. Treated the tank with Pima and Melafix to make sure that her torn fins heal without fungal issues.

Are you keeping male and females together?

I am sorry!

I know some of the "females" I've seen for sale at PetCo / PetSmart, I have wondered if they might actually be crowntail males? I may be wrong but just a heads up in case I'm right.

There is a reason you never see them in the same tanks!
Sorry about your fish!

They've been together in the same tank for a couple months now. 1 male and 4 females. They're females, they've got the white dot that females have. They've gotten along really well for the most part. The fems beat on each other a bit (for dominance) but they got a long great with Mini-Me. He stayed in cave made of lilly leaves and dwarf water lettuce only coming out to eat and such. He stayed fairly small for a male and the fem he was so attracted to was actually bigger than him. I'll miss him though...

Good Lord, I'll say it was a "failure" if it killed him!

Sorry for the loss though.

If that type of thing happened to humans, none of us would live much past 16 years old...:hmm3grin2orange:
