My sisters boyfreind moved his aquarium to our house for a while and its been about 3 weeks. A few days ago we saw that the smallest one(about 4 inches) was attacked and is missing some skin on both sides of his body. The only other fish in there are 3 other oscars that are from 4' to 6' in a 35g tank and I was wondering if their was something wrong with his oscars.

Add about 150 gallons to that tank and there is a bare minumun for 4 oscars. You shouldnt even put one in a 35. The reason he was attacked was because there is not enough room for them all to set up seperate teratories, so they have to "inter mesh" there spots, leading to attacks. Get a bigger tank, STAT!

Not everyone can get up and get a 180g tank drum ;)

Another option is to return some fish to the LFS until you have the resources(or will) to upgrade.

180g tank + stand is about 600 bucks where I am :)

Much cheaper if it's used.

We went from a 4ft tank to a 187 gallon tank just to house our three little fellas! It cost us £180 (UK) and was secondhand, and that included external filter, heaters x2, lights x2, 5 fish, all decorations including a gorgeous bogwood cave and sand. Have a look on ebay (thats where i got mine from). A second hand tank can be very cheap, and you get to see it set up before you buy it.

4 oscars do not need a 180 bare minimum. Bigger is always better, but I would say a 120 bare minimum for 4. Obviously this assumes massive filtration and big weekly water changes. As far as territory goes, the size tank to give 4 their own territories would be much bigger then 180. They have big territories and frequently that includes everything within sight. Even in a huge tank this could have happened. They all grow at different rates, and as one lags behind in growth, the others beat up on him. This very same thing could have happened in a 180, it was just much more likely to happen in this very undersized tank.
