Haha. Well, it's a good thing I wasn't trying to research so I could actually buy! A couple months old, and still no reply.

Haha, either way, at least a gallons per Raphael would have been nice. =P Bit too late now! lol.

Well, you could have looked it up instead of expecting someone else to for you. That's what researching something is...it's not just asking a question for someone else to answer, it's seeking an answer on your own.

I would request that you please don't just assume that I did not research it on my own. I did in fact, and I got vastly different answers after looking at several resources, therefore came back here for help. I guess I won't bother next time. :22:

It would be nice if you share the information you found rather than making a comment which to me was kind of rude.

From your post it sounded like you wanted someone to tell you everything. It would have been one thing to bump the thread with the information you found, even if it was conflicting, as that could have stimulated conversation. Instead, that post to me makes it sound like you think people here dropped the ball on the question, which is an inappropriate implication.

Hm. Fair enough when put that way.
I do apologize for my comments, then, if you'll accept it.

Yeah, no problem, I probably misread it too. So what did you find out? I'm interested to know as I've never kept that sort of catfish and don't know much about them.

Everywhere from 29 gallon recommendations up to 80 gallon. I've seen several adults, and personally I don't see how 29 gallons would cut it. Not enough floorspace, see. They are a rather cool (not to mention adorable) catfish.
If I was to ever get some I'd prefer a custom built 100 gallon, at least. Shallow and wide as opposed to tall and long. As long as there was ample filtration that would provide more floor space in the tank, allowing me to up the number a bit, possibly even to a full school.
Here's my favorite video of them; [Only Registered Users Can See Links.] (I forgot how to embed. Haha. :scry:)
The real dream, though, is once I find a relatively stable job to set up a custom 200 gallon. Then I could have the amount of space I need at the bottom of the tank, but then would also have enough room still in the tank to do some top and mid-dwellers.
However, until I can do my MULTIPLE dream catfish tanks, I'll stick with my invertebrates. A lot easier to give away or move a ten gallon, when I have to move. ;)

Thanks for the info! I would think 29g would be way too small for an 8" fish too. I don't trust tank size recommendations from any place that sells fish though, is that where you found the 29g rec? Shallow and wide sounds like a good tank for them.

All my research was done online. Some just recommended it for Juvies, but a few sites the adults too.
