I have a small(~2") BN pleco in my 29g. How often should I put zucchini in the tank? Right now I am putting it in once a week and leaving it for 48 hours. I am not sure if the pleco is eating it since it is eaten at night but I assume he is because it is demolished come morning.

Should I keep a piece in there all the time and just replace every 24-48 hours or is once a week good enough? The tank has some algae but I am not sure if he eats it much.

A lot of plecos do not eat much algae as they grow!
I feed fresh veggies every other day!

It's the BNpleco. Leave the zuc in overnight, take it out during the day, put a fresh piece in at lights out. If you leave apiece in for more than 24 hours, it will start to rot.

Once a week is sufficient for small plecos. I would not leave it in the tank that long (48 hrs), especially in a smaller setup where it's decay will have a larger effect on your system.

Thanks for the info. I have no worries about decaying food in the tank since it is heavily planted and filtered with an Eheim Ecco 2236 and 2213, the frogbit I have could probably filter the tank on its own if I ever tried. But I do remove it when it starts to fall apart.thumbs2:
