Ok all in my 38 gal tank...i have 2 gold gouramis and 2 kissing gourami, 4 cherry barbs and 2 clown loaches...

i recently had a run of bad water cycle... ammonia was high i finally got it under control with a 25 gallon water change and 15 new gallons from my established cichlid tank and a filter pad from one of the 90 gal tank filters...

anyway for the last 3 weeks...even before the cycle went haywire, the kissers have been going at each other relentlessly, and the gold gourami's are chasing eachother up and down the side of tank and pinning one on the bottom on its side....

any ideas guys... thanks... water parameters are back to normal now, clowns and cherries are acting normally...

Gouramis can be quite aggressive towards each other and other gouramis. What you are seeing is not usual for the species involved. Those kisser will get quite large and the aggression will get worse.

Hey rich thanks...for the info... the kisser only attacks the other kisser...and the gold only attacks the other gold... they leave the clowns alone and they cant catch the cherries.... maybe the kissers need a new home..

Rich where on LI are you...

I am in Port Washington. The kissers do need a bigger tank.

I buy mostly on line. I go to Aqurium Adventure and Pets of NHP. I have a Petland right around the corner.

You NEED to seperate your golds too if possible. I've only seen that behavior twice and both times it ended in one of the gouramis dying.

You may also want to consider rehousing your clown loaches, as they get too big for a 38g and prefer groups larger then 2.
