As im setting up my cichlid tank at the mo ive spent a lot of time visiting different stores and checking out their stock..
Ive noticed with one store in particular the cichlids seem to have what i can only describe as having no belly. But not like they have been under fed.
If you imagine looking at the fishes profile, underneath just behind the gill the body comes up and then down again towards the anal fin...
I havent come acoss this in other species so i imagine it just affects cichlids..
Any ideas??????

I am not familiar with anything like this. Does the spine appear to be deformed, as well? If so, it could be this store has a bunch of fish with TB which is contagious. However, not all have the deformed spine but do show abnormalities.

I have to assume this is just not a particular species.
I would certainly buy NO fish from them.

I hope you get a reasonable answer here. Sorry I've been unable to offer no explanation.

If you would like to read about TB, tho, here it is:

Contagious to other animals and humans as well.

if its hunched, its TB 101. You will have to wear gloves and get rid of the fish IMMEDIATELY. Its extremely contagious and YOU can catch it.
