Would this work if I squeezed some of the crud out of the fimlter in my 42g into the filter of my 22g? Will that mean I can put my fish straight back in there? Thanks..

Better to move a sponge but a squeezing certainly would help.

You can snip some off your cycled sponge and put it the other filter.
You will still need to closely monitor your perameters,just in case.

Ughh.. Well that was yuck LOL
That filter in the 42g had gotten so dirty 0_o
I squeezed heaps of the gunk into one of the sponges of the 22g filter, so I'll just leave that for a day and see how it goes... I'll keep an eye on it..
