Well I guess it happens to everyone at some point... our worst fears... a tank breaks.
My nice cat Sammie decided she was going to jump up on my coffee table in my living room and my nice son decided to squirt her with a water bottle and freak her out to get her off the table.
My house is trashed right now because of some construction and the g/f moving in at the same time. Boxes and crap are everywhere and it's very cluttered. Drives me mental... since my office became a girls bedroom all my office crap is in the dinning room where my big 3 tank stand is. (55 Angel tank, 10 gallon guppy and 10 gallon fry tank)
So the boy sprays the cat, the cat bolts hissing and burning rubber... right under my feet as I'm trying to stand up so I can simply push the cat off the table. I fall back into my chair and the chair rocks backwards and flips over with me in it. My head hits my camera's tripod (which is a oldschool metal Nikon stand) and it goes over and slams onto the plastic border along the top of the tank and spidering the glass of one of the 10 gallon tanks.
I swear to god it was like slow motion... I watched the glass spider and start spewing water everywhere. Then a small piece comes out and the whole front failed. Dumped 10 gallons almost instantly all over my box filled dinning room. 10 guppys and a bristlenose are flopping all over the floor...
I managed to get everyone picked up and tossed into a 2 gallon I had sitting around but it wasn't pretty. I got the floor covered in towels and tried to dry up some of the water. Lucky for me only a little soaked through to the basement. The stand caught a lot of it. I shot to the store and picked up a new 10 gallon whipped together in about 5 minutes and got the guppys back in.
I lost about four of the guppys and my BN in all the excitement... Not impressed about that. But I did save some and it wasn't the 55 Angel tank. So I'll take as a victory. But now I can say I am a true fishkeeper...
My son wont even look at the spray bottle.... lol :hmm3grin2orange:
