Those are sure some nice peices!
That was a deal! make sure you clean them real good still, you never know what could be on them.
Smaug was the peice you had treated with something?

No,it wasnt actual mopani but some sort of grapevine stuff. It looked just like it but was more slender.

They were in the reptile part of the store, but they are surely mopani the same exact stuff I've had in my tanks for over a year now. I usually before placing them into the tank boil them for a good 2-4 hours or longer and/or soak them in water for a few days. I don't mind the yellowish water so much but my wife doesn't so since she is home during the day I do my best to get as much of the tannis out and purify them as best as I can.

I think thats the same stuff I see up here. Its really light in weight.
Isn't mopani a hardwood? It should be kinda heavy if it is.

Agree with smaug here. In the reptile section at the petco near me, there is grape vine mixed in with mopani. And the mopani that is in the reptile section as not been pre-soaked so it may bleed tannin. The clerks at petco probably will not know the difference.

They are all Zoomed mopani, i;ve been using it for a long time with no problem. Sold in the reptile section, but made for both.

I used that stuff I got from petsmart in my baby chinese water dragon's terrarium and the morning after I put it in there I woke up and it was dead and COVERED in mites. Needless to say I went back in there and gave them an earful. So i don't think I'll ever use it again for anything.
I get my driftwood from walking the banks of the Miss you can find some cool stuff. I boil them for a while and they're good to go.
