I have my betta in currently a pathetically small tank. It's all I /really/ have room for, but so far he's shown no signs of health problems, and quite the contrary is quite giddy and active. Around thanksgiving I plan on getting him a 2.5 gallon tank. I'd love to get a 5 gallon, but I can't find many affordable kits (poor college student here) and I don't think I'd have enough room on my desk for a 5g. I hear mixed reviews on a betta's minimum tank size, and I agree. Bigger is better. But I was curious if a betta in a smaller tank got enough outside stimuli that he'd be just as well off as a betta that got less in a larger tank. Living in a dorm room I have lots of people in and out, music, I have a mirror I'll show him occasionally, his outside world is always being redecorated, and whatnot. Just curious on what all of you have noticed from experience with bettas being entertained by their outside world and keeping them content in smaller tanks.
