Your swordtail mail or female? If female i would add 1 male and 1 more female, if male 2 females Just my opinion.

You should add more sword tails to give your solo one more of a school.

my swordtail is just a kid now but it will grow ( I have been told ) up to 5 inch...and by the way is a boy ...so should I add girls ? are they shoaling fish ?

IMO add 2 females for the male. and i don't think they're schoolers. just active around the tank.

Your tank is close to the brim with stocking, two more female swords is good, but wtahc your parameters and don't forget about waterchanges.

When getting close to over stocking the tank I heard that adding the aeration gives a bit more leeway

I would also try to add more to the otos. They are a schooling fish so I would add at least 2 more

....yes I was thinking also to add one or 2 more Otos as they won't add more bioload significantly....not decided yet...waiting for more suggestions/advise..:22:

Aereation : got it , but I use it only during the night when both plants and fish are demanding for more oxygen..

Parameters : I use strips but I have learned that they are not so accurate as liquid tester, I will buy it.

I would add more otos instead of the swordtails. Swordtails do get large and I think two more, when full grown, would put the bioload too high. A lone swordtail is not a problem as they aren't schooling fish. The otos prefer to be in groups, I would not recommend less than 3. Plus otos won't increase the bioload too much, just make sure there is enough food for them.

I would either get rid of the Sword, and get at least 3-4 more Ottos.

Really take care of the fish you have before adding more. What I mean the Sword will give a lot more of a bio load. And will be better removed.

While the Ottos do a good job in your tank, and do much better in a school.
