DIY Co2 recipies?

Well, i have 1 amazon sword, 1 java fern, and 2-3 small brazilian pennyworts. All are doing well with only 30 watts in my 55, but i would like to add Co2. First of all, is it needed with my current plantage, or will it help my plants grow any?

Second of all, i have heard MANY different recipies for diy Co2. What would be the most effective/longest lasting?

All lighting levels will benefit from CO2 to some degree, but with only 0.5 watts/gallon, it's up to you if it's worth the hassle for just a few plants (ie pH drops, etc). I would suggest Flourish Excel, but it'll get pricey for a 55g.

DIY is really only for 30g and smaller, but if you wanted to do a 55, then you would need a 1-gallon jug. Start off with about 6 cups of sugar, along with a tablespoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of yeast (that is first dissolved into warm water). Since you have very low light, look for 1 bubble per second and add more yeast to hit that goal. Always wait 24 hours to check results. Try to get those nano diffusers I posted and put it under the intake of the HOB's.

Btw, there is no set recipe. It depends HIGHLY on your ambient temperature, and you may need to add more/less yeast to adjust bubble rate. 1 cup per liter is about the maximum sugar you need - any more and it won't make a difference in how long it lasts - signifigantly less and you're production will cut out after it runs out.
