View Full Version : What-ever. The word
Hey guys,
How many of you you think the word "Whatever" when some one uses it like this.
Example.
A person gives a nice subject, or educated talk, or story, or conversation, to some one.
Who then says what ever.
How would you describe this?

My wife usually says it when I'm being somewhat retarded, so at least 3-5 times a day.
CAN'T STAND IT!:boxing:

I find it almost as annoying as people that say " like it was just like this and I was like (whatever)" I had my phase when I was younger when I spoke like(lol similar to, same as, equivalantly, comparably to) that, because all my friends did, it was pretty catching. Now when I hear people speak that way it's a bit annoying.
similar to
comparable to
same
equivalant
same (as)
just a couple options there, I'm no thesaurus. Or maybe people instead of just saying like could say it was like, i felt like, anything, but ya it gets annoying when someone uses "like" 4 times in a sentence.
But anyway, like typing this is like getting seriously like, old and like whatever. PSSHH
You reawoke about 15 years of anger there hehe.

whenever someone has said that to me, its just like saying "youre doing it the wrong way, but do what you want"

I consider it to indicate disinterest because I'm not that socially awkward and inept.
Yet we needed a poll for this? :hmm3grin2orange:

In the context described, I think it's dismissive and rude.

I say it often when I don't really care about a certain topic or am basically not sure - In fact, just then a guy-friend messaged me and asked what I was doing this weekend and I just said "I don't know yet, whatever" lol

Good word to end an agruement. You know you're right and they're wrong but don't feel like pushing the issue.
