Ok, so I did a 30% water change in my 10 gallon yesterday, and today i wake up to find the water cloudy, bacterial bloom cloudy, but after testing the water, i get this:

Ph: 7.0-7.2
Nitrate: 5-10ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Ammonia: 0ppm

What's up with the white cloudy water? The substrate didn't get stirred anymore than usual...

Any chemicals added to the tank recently?

yes! sorry to leave that out, i forgot myself. I took the fry out a couple days ago because the one male cobra guppy was acting funny. Just yesterday I added melafix+pimafix because i noticed the one that was acting funny had some tail rot. I didn't really think that stuff clouded water tho, does it? And while we're at it, what the heck causes fin rot?

You tank will probably clear up again by tomorrow. I do a lot of cleaning of my tanks and sometimes that happens for a few hours.

That's most likely it. Melafix clouds my water too (for a few days I might add), and if I throw in some water clarifier, it reacts chemically and makes this weird white cloud that goes away after a few hours. It does clear up after you use the water clarifier though, but I'm assuming it also removes a lot of the meds, plus the fact that is reacts in such a spectacular manner scares me.

Fin rot is causes by bacterial infections from an open wound on the fins I believe.

ok, thanks for the info. I was just worried that the cloud was stressful to them, although they don't look it. And they sure do have PLENTY of fin to injure!

Yeah, mine gets that way too a lot of times. But this situation was different because the water was cloudy more than 12 hours later! That's what got me wondering.

fin rot is caused by a bacteria found in poor water conditions.

what could be causing poor water conditions? It gets regular water changes and cleanings....

Not neccesarily poor water conditions. If someone's tail gets bitten or otherwise injured, it leaves an open spot for bacteria (which is always present regardless) to get into)

<sigh of relief> I was gonna say...If i needed to clean that 10g any more than i already do, then it's not worth the trouble, i'd be cleaning that thing 3-4 times a week!
