Have any of you ever turned an old mac into an aquarium setup?
Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated!

This is the Mac that I am talking about:

Never heard of someone doing such a thing....why do you want to?

There is toxic metals inside computers, that's why they tell you to recycle them rather than just throw them away. I forget what it includes but I'm pretty sure mercury is one of them. I wouldn't mess with it for your own health reasons, unless of course you are confident you know what you are doing when it comes to taking it apart!

Its probably dustier than hell in one of those things. You can get weird tanks like that off ebay that are meant for fish.

Man........
No love?

That's ok.

Extremely confident with what I am doing.

Once I actually get started, I'll take pictures along the way and keep you guys posted.

are you going to put in acrylic or glass inside the computer?

All you have to do, is cut a hole in the top of the comp for a light and feeding purposes, and so you can get your hand in there to silicon shut any leaks. Make a DIY out of it for the forum.

That would be so cool! I'm a mac fan, so here are some links for building a "macquarium." Be careful with that Cathode Ray Tube, it could easily kill you.

While I'll admit it's a cool idea, whats with the recent rash of keeping fish in the most random places? Bulb aquarium, deep fryer aquarium, Mac aquarium.... ???????? lol

Is there an acrylic/glass shortage I'm not aware of? ;)

Or has the casemodding virus made a species jump to aquarists?

Hahahah.
That's pretty funny.
I used to have bearded dragons in a TV terrarium a while back. That was very fun.

I was thinking about doing a TV aquarium, but then I found an old mac online for $20.00

It's not nearly as large as an old TV, and that's really kind of what I am looking for.

I'm always interested in doing things differently. Besides.........it'd make a GREAT conversation piece.

My SO talked about doing this a long time ago, but we never tried. He's a mac addict. He says to try http://forums.macresource.com/. If you get it going, pictures would be cool.
