I am sorry but I have to know what species or atleast which type of cichlid you have to be able to help you. Different species have very different breeding behaviour.

Depending on how well cycled your tank is, you can add to your population density by adding 4 more fish. Also provide lots of cover and hiding places with rocks and other aquarium decorations. If possible add to or rearrange the decor when you add the the new fish. That way the existing fish also have to adjust to the new surroundings. If all else fails try and isolate / remove the bully of the tank.

In principle yes but the aquarium is a little small to house a lot of mbuna cichlids. I would start by making sure that there are a lot of ricks/hiding places in the aqurium and that there are atleast a small open area where they can digg.

Shouldnt mark have more females than males in the tank like 3 feamle and one male?

Yes he should. I actually read that like 3 females 1 male but after reading your post I se that he states the opposit. 3-4 females for every male is a good ratio but his tank is unfortunatly to small to add that many females.
