Allright I am going to be getting a tiger oscar an albino one gf doesnt like the black one. I find it odd that the albino is cheaper then the regular? It was wierd. But there healthy. Anyways back to the topic. How fast do they grow. I dont want the fish to freak out because he will be the only fish in a 75g except for a bottom feeder if the oscar will allow it. I dont want to get 2 oscars just for the fact the tank will be to small. And for some fish such as my ID shark he was happier with a tank mate. Any suggestions?

Roughly 1" per month but slowing down a wee bit after 8 months.
Mine grew just over ten inches and were about 1 1/2" when I got them.

Feed them a good base pellet food, throw in some Hikari massivore when it grows large enough, and chop up some fresh seafood for it. You should see no less than your fish hitting a nice solid 10-11" within a years time. Oscars grow like crazy till they hit 8-9"...and then it slows down quite a bit. My pair is right at 13" and about 2 years old. They hit 11" in their first year...so as you see the growth does slow quite a bit. Keep up good water quality and you should defiantly see some nice results. For a companion fish, I would probably get a female convict.

Yea your the person I was replying to ur thread The female will be down for a couple days. But then soon there will be more fry. I would give em a week and there will be more. Happened to me. How are the fry handling? You would be more worried about the fry. The smaller fish when there stress tend to pass on easier then the adult sized. But if you stuck with my advice I am sure it all went well I hope for you.thumbs2:

yeah everything went pretty well. All fry are about a 1/4 - 1/2 " in length with the stripes and things goin on. Swimming i dont even have to crush the flakes they eat them themselves just keep picking at them 22 days old and i decided to change out the substrate and stuff. Ha i am really peaved at myself tho so yeah everything is good

I found Hikari floating pellts to be best for my oscars. They crap half as much which really keeps the tank a lot cleaner looking.thumbs2:
