Ok, i love people who are really nice and get me gifts and stuff, but it doenst always turn out too good... for the fish... Let me explain:

Now one of my friends decided to get me a fish, since i like raising fish. So, he goes to that store and get me a small about a finger long "Black Ghost Knife"

When i First saw the fish i really loved it, i didnt know what it was, but it is awsome looking. And he paid like 6 $US for it... So far so good...

The first thing i do, naturally, is log on the internet and find out all the info i can about this fish. So i searched "ghost fish" since thats what he called it to me and thats when my trouble started:

Heres the beef:

The site sais that:

-The fish is nocturnal and hates light (damn! a beautiful fish u can barely see.. i could still sneak in at night :P)
-It needs a cave
-It is blind (heh... the tiger barbs will eat it alive!... so i thought)
-It needs a place to hide (fair enough)
-It eats neon tetras (ok i dont have any...) it can even eat barbs! or other fish foolish enough to venture at its cave... (damn! i have barbs!)
-It is electric, it will zap any fish that tries to nip her fins (damn x2 !)
-It needs alot of space... (my aquarium is already overcrowded!)
-Should be fed live food and worms... (i dont have live food, and i dont want to risk ruining my aquarium with some)
-It is difficult to keep, only for the experts... ( you see, i'm a total newbie!)

So what on earth am i going to do with it!?

>> I filled a small 4gallon aquarium and removed 2 fish from my main tank (1 platy, 1 xypho) into the 4gallon one, and put the Black Ghost Knife instead
>> I put in a small plastic box for it to hide in

>>> other than that ... :help: HELP!?

Now i hope it doesnt start eating my fish too soon. The smallest fish I have is a corydoras, then the barbs and serpae tetra.

Anyone has a hint or an advice (other than throw it/give it away or return it to the shop cuz i cant)

If you look at the store, most carry clear tube caves so that you can see the hiding fish and they have no clue you can see them! I would suggest you do find the appropriate tank needed for him and center the tankmates around him if you wish to keep him. If you don't want to do that I would explain as nicely as possible to your generous friend that you now have a gift that will kill your other fish and outgrow your tank. Then the next time you are at a petstore with said friend (invite them to go one day if you have to) casually notice the sign advertising gift cards and make an innocent comment about "what a great idea that is for a pet/fish lover.....a gift card to allow them to purchase just the right addition to their family"!!!!!!:wink2:
