So i came home tonight, just put an AC 50 on the planted this morning. I've ahd a snail for a few months now who I could never explain where he came from. Before i had live plants at ALL, he appeared one day, almost the size he was up until today. Dont know where he had been hiding all that time, but he came from nowhere.

Well, today I came home to him on the intake tube. Got changed out of my work clothes and looked back to realize what had happened. I suppose he was used to being able to crawl over the intake tube of the AC 20s I had on there and had tried it on the 50. Poor little guy got sucked right out of his shell :(

Wow, I guess it was the change of filter but I didn't any filter intake could do that.

On No! You should think about picking up a sponge from a nano filter. You can cut a small square out of it and put it over the intake. It keeps snails and fry from getting sucked in but overall doesn't really effect water throughput.

I had that happen to several of my snails, but eventually they all got so big I thought it wasn't an issue anymore. Then I came home one day and checked the tank and found one of largest apple snails on the filter. It was fully grown, so I thought it musta just found something to eat on there, but I decided to check due to it being a problem in the past. And sure enough, half its face was stuck in the filter. It turned out it was still alive so I turned the filter off and hoped it would be able to pull itself out, but it wasn't so I called my partner in to pry the filter apart (I couldn't do it without juggling, which woulda caused more damage).

The snail was kinda white and slimy and didnt move much for a couple of days, but it recovered just fine, unlike about 10 others.
