Two of my giant danios (full grown) have a gaping mouth. They've been that way for a while, and can still eat, and they act like the other 4, behavior-wise. I read in a previous thread that sometimes their jaws can become dislocated, and it needs a gentle push to pop back into place. I tried this on one of them with no success. They don't appear sick, and they've been this way for the better part of a month now. What to do?

Hmm. I would QT them and treat with a general parasite medication. Sounds like fluke or some other gill parasite.

A gill parasite would do that to their mouths? They're behavior is normal its just that the mouth wont close.

They may be keeping their mouth open to get more oxygen. Having their mouth open keeps their gill open more too.

Someone told me not long ago their fish picked up gravel and had a stone stuck in his mouth they had to dig out. This is sure odd tho. Wonder if he slammed into something and broke his jaw.

It two fish that are like that though. That's what makes me think it a disease.

True. I just noticed that when I read it again.
