View Full Version : Do peppered cories lay eggs on the glass?

My 75g community (stocking in my sig) appears to have a couple groups of what I'd guess were eggs on the glass. I've found two little groupings of tiny, transparent bubble like dots. One on the front, one on the side next behind a plant. I am inexperienced in breeding anything but just add water livebearers, but these look a lot like eggs. After doing some googling, cories seem to be the most likely candidate.

So, breeding peppered cories. Do they lay eggs on glass? If not, do any of my fish in the tank? If so, how do you know if they are fertilized? If they somehow are, what do you do with them if you want them to live?

Thanks.

Yes corys do lay eggs on glass and looking at your stocking they are the likely candidates.

:ssuprised: I really don't mean to :threadjacked: but how do you tell if corries have paird off? I have two that are eachother's shadows, all the time, day or night. One is a bit bigger than the other but, as of yet, I have seen no egg clutches on the glass.

Could they be laying elsewhere in the tank? Perhaps on plants, rocks w/e? I Doubt any fry would survive the congo's but...still....

They will feign breeding a lot, that sounds like what it is going on. They dont really pair off, but form a pair or trio to breed or feign breeding.

Check your eggs is the most densely planted parts

If there are cory eggs, does it mean they are fertilized? If so, how can they be saved and raised?

You can pick them off the glass and put them in a small container with tank water, they should hatch in 3-4 days if they are viable. You will need a tank to put the fry in and some small foods to feed them.

How do you pick them off? Would it be easy if they are eggs? These seem pretty stuck.
