Hi all, i went to a garden centre yesterday to buy some rocks for my new tank,( after the local aquarists tried to charge me 15 quid for a 5 kilo cobble!) and found some i really like.
Just wondering if anyone knows how safe they are for my cichlids..
According to the fellow working there they are:

Red quartz.
Two types of spa.( He said one was a turking stone)
and lava rock..
I could post pictures if this would be of any help,
And any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated..

Quartz and lava rock are fine for cichlids, though I've heard that the roughness of lava rock may be an issue if you have rowdy fish. Slate also works very well.

What's a spa/turking stone?

To be honest i have no idea, but it would look really nice in a tank,
is it possible to post a photo in a reply to a thread?
The lava rocks not too jagged and is really nice to look at.. It looks like a piece of fake plastic decor you might find in shop.. :-)

Good point on types of rock and there safety, I don't know about the rock you have mentioned, but I have heard limestone is a real nono in an aquarium.
