Yes, the angel is going to get too big. I am not good with plecos, not sure of the size of the variety you have. The neons and platys will be fine.

There are only a few plecs suitable for 20 g.The gsp get too big,the angel belongs in nothing less then a 40 gal,but the rest of the fish will be fine.

so i guess im pretty much stocked.. for my 20?
You're not stocked, you're overstocked as previously stated.

Huh?! 40 gallons minimum? Is that just the safest possible management or is this supposed to be a standard rule? DrF&S only recommends a 30 gallon.

Goldspots get over 10inches & eat like horses. Think a whole zuchini a day. Minimum tank size for a golspot is a 55gal. Angels need depth & a 30gal just won't cut it unless it's a column design.

10 neons and 2 gsp, i guess the gsp gotta go.. whoa.. i bought those two plecos here in japan, and the LFS told me they were good to go.. but later found out here that it was going to get too big, i will be looking for new homes for these guys..

Gold spot plecos get up to a foot long. They need a much larger tank than a 20g. If you get rid of them, you could put a dwarf gourami with the neons and plattys, otherwise not. An angel is a definite no go.

Dr fand s are out to sell you fish.Im here to give sound manageable advice.Angelfish get big, mine is over 9" tip to tip.He is in a 58 gal tall tank and he has learned to swim on his side and upside down [planted tank]IMO andE he is actually too big for even my tank, much less smaller then a 40gal.

my buddy has a 55 at his place, but he said the plecos are too small right now, for him to take, because his other fish will pick at it. Will it be alright to leave them in my tank until they get alittle bigger? I am also in the market for a 55 right, just havent found the right pick up yet.. 0o0o dwarf gourami sound interesting:)

I didn't get a chance to read all the other posts (sorry I'm heading to bed). Just wanted to mention that the neons and angel in a 20 are going to cause issues. It would be overstocked, and more importantly the angelfish will eat the neons as it gets larger.
I would go with the neons and maybe a pearl or dwarf gourami. Maybe a german blue ram.
I would not do the angle. I am 10000% with smaug. My Angle is the same, and has out grown his tank, which is a 50g.
As for the GSP I would return them if you can. Better choice would be Bristle Nose.
As for the Neons they are fine. And possibly a a school or 6 Corys and a Dwarf Gourami would go great.

tweak. get your sand decos and heater. fill the tank up move the goldie and the filter from the 20. add the new filters for the big tank wait a few weeks for them to seed and the tanks good . you still have to stock slowly but its not like going thru a full cycle.. then just move the goldie and his filter back to the 20.....

so if i have this correct, just move all my fish to the larger tank, after the sand, heater and decor of course, with my old filter and new filter running.. wait a few weeks and bam! i can start stocking the 64?

No. If you move your filter over then don't add fish for a few weeks the bacteria will die. It dies in a day.
Read the links in my signature about cycling.
Hate to be a bearer of bad news but that goldfish in a 20 gallon is bad news, too. Even the fancies get 6-8 inches and most of the other species are for ponds. I'd get rid of the goldfish, too, and put the neons in that 20 gallon with a bunch more. My angels killed my neons.

the main part of any cycle is an ammonia source with no fish to produce or adding by itself (fishless) good bacteria die

okay so no fancy.. how many neon would be enough for it to not be over loading a 20gal?

Probably 30 of them if you wanted that many. (I had 43 in my 29 gallon.) Or get a few less and have some rasbora. Neons are not cycling fish and need a cycled tank.

my plan is to leave the neon and the gps in the 20gal until the 64gal is cycled... what would be the best way to do this?

What are the ammo, trites and trates reading in your tank?
IMO (and im not a pro) if your readings are great and the young fish still have room to move around, you have time to prep the 64 and also perhaps another tank altogether.
I recently set up a 30g with the intention of getting a polypterus delhezi, but decided against that and am waiting now to get some more glass cats and transfer them over.
I am constantly planning new tanks... But it takes time.

Take angel and pleco back or re-home. Opt for a bristlenose and a german blue ram.:fish:

the gps will be rehome into the 64 when ever it is set up and cycled. The neons if not rehome to the the 64, will probally get an additional 20 family members bringing the total up to 30 in my 20gal.
