View Full Version : Worker bees!!
Man, these little buggers are SO cool! I never even thought to get them but the LFS guy suggested that I do, and I did! Two of them! My leaves were getting covered with brown algae (I leave my lights on about 12 hours/day) and in just a couple days, my leaves are looking BRIGHTER and HEALTHYIER (because they're brighter... hehe).
Anyway, God bless these little dudes!thumbs2:

Ottos are the best! I reccomend them to everyone! Their cute too, and they stay pretty small so you can get a few of them. I will never not have them.

So THOSE are Ottos! I didn't know that! LOL. Ya, I can't see how I was without them! There's plenty of algae in my tank for them to eat and the plants were so brown with that algae they looked like CRAP!

I kept hearing "Ottos" on the board, but never bothered to see what they were... (probably too busy blabbing in the threads... LOL)....
But ya, they're pretty cute. Wonder how much bigger those particular Ottos will get? Any ideas?

I think they pretty much stay that size, I have a school of 7 in my 44g and do great job but can't keep up ( I have a huge algae bloom right now)so i'll probably get more to make the school bigger.

Ya you should get a few more, they really love to be in schools. I would get maybe 4-6 or more, depending on what you think.
Also make sure you have algae waffers for them once the algea gets taken over by them. (Even though mine have never touched a waffer, well not that I've seen)
They also like cucumbers, and zucchini, and other foods like that

I will admit, I've been gettring real lucky when it comes to finding nice fish, but my luck is not without casualties. For me, I always lose some fish when ever I buy them. I figure its a percentage thing but ultimately the strong survive.
I lost 2 of 8 wag platties trhe first day. Of abou 30 guppies, I've lost 3 in a week.
thumbs2:
I wish you luck finding your ottos. I'll probably get 4 more for a total of 6.

I've heard SO much about ottos! They sound so cool but no one around here EVER has them. The only time I've even seen them was at a Petco, but they were seriously covered in ick and didn't look good at all.

as SOON as my tank is cycled, I'm gettin a few of these little guys.
So far, my tank isn't producing much algae...problem? I could always go with cooked cucumber...

Ottos!! I'm now waiting very patiently *cough* for mine to arrive at the lfs. I convinced him to order me some on his next fish order. Hopefully I'll get them in 2-3 weeks.
