I admit it...I'm dense...I don't understand them...
Someone care to enlighten me?

I think the idea is the cavemen are trying to assimilate successfully into society, and the ads are discouraging to them because it makes them look stupid, thats why they're always upset when they see them. It's cave racism lol, or cavism or something. What I really don't understand is how they managed to make a spin off show of it.
LOL...okay...you've explained it...I understand what you're saying...
But I still don't 'get it'. And I usually get stuff...so if I don't get it, I assume a few others don't either, so then, isn't it poor marketing?
And the spin-off...maybe I really AM the only person who doesn't get it...and everyone else does...and they want MORE of this really cool marketing idea...

I don't think it's that you don't "get it" - it's just not that funny!

Bullseye, I'm pretty sure you have to be under the influence of something to really find those commercials that funny. So on one hand maybe poor marketing, but then again, maybe it's great marketing because it targets those wasted people that are gonna have much higher insurance rates from crashing into parked cars and getting DUI's :hmm3grin2orange:
WOW thats a pretty lame theory hehe.
A[Only Registered Users Can See Links.] you...I'm feeling smarter again...:l24:

I can't watch television anymore, even the "shows" are marketing! They're selling us ideals and interests, telling us how we "should" think and act and speak...
IT'S CALLED PROGRAMMING FOR A REASON!!!
Turn that crap off and watch your fish, I say!!

This is exactly why their marketing is so effective. People talk about it. Some "get it" some don't , some find it amusing, some find it annoying. Whatever the case may be, if causes people to talk about it and causes the company name to be constantly brought up in conversation. The more people are familiar with the name, the more likely they are to choose that service or product over another less heard of name. Whether or not that service or product is better doesn't really matter, as there are a lot of people who will go with the popular choice without actually doing any research into which one would be the best for them.

It's true - there is no such thing as bad publicity, because of the word of mouth KingFisher mentioned, and also because whether you're "for" something or "against" it, giving it your attention gives it the same amount of energy.

They should look stupid because the ads sure are.
Not that I wish for anyone to die but I really was looking forward to Billy Mays commercials to end. They are still going on and he's screaming louder than ever.
But my very most hated commercials are those for sexual enhancement. Honestly. May as well advertise hemorrhoid ointment. OH.......they already do!

Well yes...unless it causes people NOT to buy your product. I've hated the Yoplait commercials from Day 1 (20 years ago?)...I will NOT buy Yoplait...

I am convinced that Billy Mays is lying on a beach somewhere, rich as hell, and laughing into a fruity drink. I mean, can you think of a more perfect set up to faking your death? Infomercial fame, internet infamy, a high-rated tv show... that's exactly when I would call in a few favors and get on a plane to Belize to watch it on the news!

How could he hide? You'd hear him yelling all over the Island.

That's why he yelled all the time! So no one would recognize his real voice!
And he probably shaved off that silly beard, too... :hmm3grin2orange:

Nah theres no way he is still alive. He could make more money with his show and product percentage then if he faked his death probably.
Anyway, he is pretty reconizable to lol

Probably the best commercials that get play time imo.
Basically the cave men (frozen in time and thawed out by us) that we forgot about in the 90s, remember that? Well in the commercials they have to deal with the signs "so easy a caveman can do it" haunting them constantly. Good stuff, how they come up with it I have no clue XD
The newest one is really funny
so was this one:
