My Algae is gone!

I've had my aquarium up and running for close to 2 months now.

For the past month and a half, and I have had some pretty bad algae growing on a large rock in my tank.

I added a mystery snail, or 3. They'd eat a little here and there, but stick they preferred the glass.
I added a rubber lip pleco.......he kind of just stuck to the glass the whole time.
I threw in 3 amano shrimp, they found a plant that they like, and haven't left that plant since!
I throw in some live plants, but they've only been in there for a week at the most.

Finally, lastnight, I see my rubber lip pleco on the rock. This morning he's still on it, and all the algae is GONE!

2 days ago, the rock was entirely covered almost.

I don't really know where I am going with this. Just wanted to share my happiness I guess.

I've got a feeling it was EVERYTHING combined that really made the algae disappear, but geez.........it looks so much better!

That's awesome. I remember I had a problem rock for awhile then I added a few large snails. I day i saw the snail on the rock, and he stayed that way day and night for almost three days until he ate all the algae! I've never had a algae problem on that rock since!

My rubber lip pleco is still hanging out on that rock!
He must be having the time of his life!

Good for you! Can you give us some more information on "rubber lip" pleco? I am always on the lookout for smallish plecos that love algae. Don't get me wrong.....I love the big guys too, but want more fish and if I use smaller fish, I can have more:hmm3grin2orange:

Well, it's basically a pleco that doesn't turn into a giant.

I think that avg adult size is something like 6 inches, instead of 18 inches.
I would've looked into a golden algae eater or something, but they are supposed to take a turn towards the aggressive side.

I really think that he may have absolutely eliminated all of the algae on that one big rock. And he's still quite small.

I purchased him from Petsmart actually.

Cool! Will have to store that in the back of my brain. Although I don't have room for a pleco ATM, I am sure eventually there will be more tanks around here!
