This message is for all of you that have recently converted to sand, and have been posting GEORGOUS pictures of the remodels!

Yesterday I went out and picked up some Playground sand at the local Lowe's and have now redone 2 of my tanks - and will in all likelyhood do at least one more before I'm done - And it's all YOUR fault!:hmm3grin2orange:

Looking around at the different kinds of sand, I liked the look of the Play sand the best and for $4.96 for 50 lbs I just couldn't pass it up.

Picks will be coming soon on the two that are done, and shame on you all for feeding this habit - especially YOU Mith, it was your excitement on your tank remodel that put me over the edge! :18:

Nice! I do love sand substrate and am very excited that flourite makes sand substrate for plants (a bit more expensive than playsand though!)

ROFLMAO.... you will NOT regret it! I look at my tank now and its become my dream tank, it's the tank that I've always wanted! I got really lucky and found some stunning guppies (I may get more today LOL) and my sand (blasting silica sand) to me, could NOT look better! I'm just elated with my made over tank!

Good luck and remember to give the sand a good washing. I probably used 80 of the 100lb bag and I literally spent the entire day cleaning it! I WILL be posting more pics of my tank so all non-believers can be converted LOL

Another one goes the way of sand.

I have to agree that I'm seriously considering moving to sand. Unfortunatly I'm not going to have time to do any majore construction in my tanks until some time in late october once I finish my thesis defense. That said nothing will stop me from getting good/cheap sand if I happen to see it on sale in the mean time. :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Yeah that definitely helps. I just with the hardware stores around here carried black sand. Some of the pool shops have it but it's just as expensive as the stuff from the pet store.

What did you do with all the extra gravel? I was debating on putting more gravel in my tanks over the weekend but I think I'm going to hold off for now. Either way I'm going to have a LOT of extra gravel when I'm done moving to sand.

Mainly because my tanks are 51 miles away at my home, and my butt(as well as my camera) is here at work trying to pay for my MTS!:hmm3grin2orange:

I wouldn't even call what I had, gravel. More like pebbles! They were HUGE! I'm going to give as many to my friend as he wants, then trash the rest I suppose.

welcome to the sandy side lol

And I LOVE being here!!!!!
