Fluval is at it again! This is supposed to bigger than their FX5. No word on price or the specs of the filter (gph, media capacity, etc), but I hear it has some new electronics to it. Anyone have any info yet? Release date is October '09.

Yeah, thats about all you can see from that crappy vid. Looks like there may be some buttons/settings along with the screen...
I say right now, its going to be 500 bucks min.

Cool. They should all have something that tells you when media needs changing. It would be nice if Fluval included a spraybar.

Hopefully the price of the FX5s drops... I agree though that this new "G" will be quite expensive. You're probably in the right ballpark.

Cant say that I dont agree. Personally I dont see how it could get more advanced than the Eheim Pro 3E series, or larger than the bohemoth Eheim 2260. Like with the FX5 I am curious about it but just to chicken sh*t to buy one:hmm3grin2orange:

Where did it say the G is bigger? I haven't heard that at all. I think the G will have two sizes and if I remember right both were smaller than the FX5 (Something like 100 or 150 gallons and 300 gallons).
I have no idea about pricing but the rep said he thought they would be more expensive then they actually are, so I hope that means they will be pretty reasonable.
One feature is a digital temperature readout.
I personally do not like a filter telling me when it needs to be cleaned. If it goes more than a month then waste is breaking down and the filter is becoming a nitrate factory.
I remember seeing some DIY mods on an FX5 by removing their trays and turning the entire canister in to media room. The article stated that by doing this you actually exceed the media capacity on the largest Eheim, of course now I can't find the article. Any help on this one guys?

You thinking of this one?

I think my 405 is great(thus far), and wish the flow on my 205 was just a little bit more. I also wish each came with a spray bar, and allowed us to choose the nozzle or bar.

Looks like one of them, I think I saw a different one.
At least you can buy the spray bar separately. I personally have never needed one. With the Eheims you have to buy a special intake and output to just get it up to about the same level of the standard Fluval.

I have *heard* that this "G" is more gph and more media capacity than the FX5... but it is all speculation as even the website isn't giving out any specs.

I clean filters once a month, too. (Also HOTB) That statement was for those who clean their filters once a year (or more)! It's hard on the motor trying to push water thru dirty, clogged material. And, as you say, producing a nitrate factory.
