in january me and my girlfriend were in thailand, we collected some awesome rocks/coral washed up on the beach from several locations around the adaman sea. Now the question is, can these be prepared to be used in a new freshwater community aquarium? I've already boiled them. but wanted to know if its possible to put them in there, as I've never done this before. any help would be great, thanks!

If you've boiled them, they'll probably be fine. It wouldn't hurt to soak them in freshwater for a week or so just to make sure they aren't going to fall apart. Just keep an eye on your pH and hardness. Depending on the mineral content of the rock these values could change once it goes in your tank.

It will probably raise your ph a few points.
What is your ph at now?
What kind of fish do you keep?

the tank is currently empty. no water, nothing. im going to be setting it up this weekend. its just going to be a community tank, I have no idea what I'll putting in there quite yet. just some smaller, colorful fish.

they should be safe to use when you set up your tank check where your ph is and keep an eye on it then you can chose fish that will do well in that ph or if it raises the ph to high for the fish you want to keep you can always remove it.
