LOL, I just had to post this. This is a 1600 (!) gallon planted aquarium being setup by Tom Barr for a client. Some quick specs:

4x 1000 watt metal halide lights (LOL)
~500 watts of supplementary lighting
Dedicated air conditioning (because of lighting)
500 watt UV sterilizer of doom
Full real time monitoring equipment (can be accessed remotely through the internet)
Filtration system designed by the guys who run Monterrey Bay Aquarium

1000 cardinal tetras (Food for the altums)
36x 10" discus
24x altum angelfish
+ more

Heres a few pics detailing the equipment and the setup

That would look "natural"

But that's a sweet tank! I'd hate to see what would happen if it cracked....

The guy would go out and buy a new one after paying someone else to clean it up for him

1.25" thick acrylic though. Jeeeeeeeeez.

Hm, just realized the pictures won't show unless you are registered and I don't have his permission to post it here. Bleh. Suffice to say the pics are pretty mind-boggling. I would imagine the general reaction fo anyone entering the room would be "agagagagagaga"

And the school of 1000 cardinals? LOL. It's hard to imagine those discus are 10 inches in diameter. That's absolutely HUGE for discus.

That is huge for discus. I guess they got that big because they think they are in the wild because the tank is so huge! lol. I would also love to see that school of cardinals in person

I've never seen or heard of a Freshwater Aquarium tank being that big! I'd think that big you'd go Salt but wow. I'd make it look like a little cut out of a creek or something. Make it real natural. That's amazing someone has money to do that.

yeah i was thinking about putting one in my basement, since, you know, i wouldn't want to buy a HOUSE with that money...

All jokes aside, that is one heck of a project and one hell of an achievement!
