I think I need to start a fry tank since my platies won't stop having babies. Besides a filter, heater, and the actual tank what do I need to get started?

Any other tips or whatever would be good too

Thanks guys!

A sponge filter works best so the fry don't get sucked into anything. Floating plants on top, and moss on the bottom are also helpful.

Where are you located? If you ever have too many fry let me know. I'm trying to find some females. :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

I always have a big air driven sponge filter going in one of my tanks to use as a seeded filter when I need it. .
I take water out of the tank my 15 gal nursery tank. Put in the seeded sponge filter, a heater and a some sort of decoration for the fry to hide in. I don't use any substrate of any sort. I start feeding the fry NLS growth formula that I place in a new pepper mill. It gets it fine enough for the fry to eat. I keep the nursery tank bare bottom as it is easier to do water changes 3-4 times a week as the fry get fed 3-4 times a day. I have been using this system for all my cichlids and found that it works very well.

Do you have any suggestions for a sponge filter?
