So from the research I've done, my GBRs need to be in warmer waters. I have the temp set to about 82-83 degrees F. However, they are in a planted tank, which I'm a newb at. I was just reading that many plants don't do well in warm temperatures, specifically my anacharis. (78 degrees was the max) So what should I do? Obviously the rams are more important than the plants to me, but they weren't cheap either. Should I bring down the temp to 80? Will they still seek to spawn regularly at that temp and be healthy? Any advice appreciated....

I don't see 80* being a problem, that seems to be the upper end of the spectrum anyways.
Bump it down to 80, and see how they react, I don't think any harm should come of it.

Rams certainly prefer warmer temperatures, but will do fine in the upper 70s. I've kept them in tanks set up specifically for them and none of my plants have suffered because of it. I've also kept them in a more "standard" community tank that wasn't catered to them and they did fine as well. If your plants are suffering, I'd lower the temps, but try to do it slowly, so as not to shock the fish. Rams don't like you to go messing with their water once they're used to it. Good luck!
