What are my rams doing?

So I came home from class and found a little concave dug up in my sand under my heater. THe past two days the male seemed to be chasing the female here and there, now the female is chasing the male and he is just ignoring her. Whats up? Trying to spawn already? No way right?

There is a good possibility that they are planning to spawn already. I have had several spawn soon after introducing them to my tanks.

Yep, that's the start of spawning behavior, for sure. Does the female have a bright pink stomach? And is she plumper at the pink spot? If so, those are the eggs, and she's definitely ready to mate. And if she is, he is.
