ok guys......one of my dwarf g's is crazy.....and has almost killed himself 4 times..

1) pinned between large rock and tank glass

2) wedged into med sized rock decorations - so deep he couldn't come back out

3) wedged under large rock

4) wedged under large rock

but after all these experiences - he has bounced back to eat, swim around, and play with his fellow buddy g.....

what is wrong with this guy? i don't understand why he keeps on putting himself in these awkward situations?

anyone else have an issue?

ps -- the tank is not setup to kill fish....this guy is just crazy and seems to enjoy finding the most impossible ways to hurt/kill himself

Sounds like some of those spaces he's selecting is a bit tight for him. You may need to make those areas a little larger.

I had a large castle in one of my tanks and two of my gourami's got themselves stuck inside with half of them in and half of them out. They both died and one I had to literally tear almost in half to get him out. I had to made a few revisions to this castle......like plugging up all the really small holes.

wise words mrs hobbs......

but under the big rock......a truly impossible place - yet he has found it twice.....i guess i can change some things up -- but if you saw the tank - you would think to yourself that it is a tank where no one should die...haha....

at least in my opinion....time to change the setup again!

They do like the tightest places they can find for some reason. Then they grow and no longer fit in that same spot. You'd think they could figure it out. It's like us trying to walk thru a 3 inch doorway. LOL

I had the same problem when I had smaller fish in my 30 gallon. I would be so sad every time something like that would happen or a fish would die. You can do the best you can to try to make it impossible for them to get into tight places and there is always at least one that will find a way. Good Luck with keeping him safe. If he/she grows up big and strong he/she will thank you with many years of fun fishy swimming time. :0)
