Ok, RANDOM question

As a few of you know, I am pregnant. 2 weeks ago my sinuses flared up and I have been sneezing/coughing/runny nose since I can't take anything for it. Well....24 hours ago I woke up with freaking pink eye!! I have NO CLUE where I got it, but fortunately I CAN take something for it.

Anyway, my husband keeps teasing me saying I got it from the fish tank because I have been teaching him about the different types of bacteria that grow in the tank and pink eye just so happens to be a bacterial infection. I keep telling him he is crazy and it probablly came from the grocery basket at the store...Please tell me I'm right :ezpi_wink1:

You could also have caught it from the food you feed your fish if you feed your fish bloodworms or tubifex worms, which may have been harvested from not so clean waters. Also, some people are allergic to them.

Unless you live in a bubble, you are exposed to potentially infectious bacteria and viruses all the time. No telling where you caught the bug that gave you pink eye.

i used to get pink eye from very bad allergies that lead to a sinus infection that lead to pink eye. i feel your pain but i now get a steroid shot 2 times a year for allergies. unfortunately since you're pregnant you pretty much have to suffer through most things.
i highly doubt you got it from the aquarium, i would never get rid of it if that were the case because i'm always rooting around in my tank.

also it helps to keep some hand sanitizer around the house if you don't already especially since your pregnant.

what sego said...I'm always shoulders deep in the tank, but i too have allergies. I would have caught something from the tank by now.

Many freshwater aquariums have tested positive for E Coli. Not sure what bacteria exactly causes pink eye, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

I HIGHLY doubt that I got it from my tank...just thought I would see what ya'll thought. I'm like everybody else, I always am in it up to my shoulders. So even if it did come from it, I wouldn't be getting rid of it or changing the amount of time I "scuba dive" in it. thumbs2:

Ya know, I'm usually a fairly healthy person too with the exception of seasonal allergies. It would be my luck that I start coming down with all sorts of random illnesses when I CANT take anything for it!
