I think that Im finally getting to the point I want to be at with the camera, I changed my white balance again and have found 400ISO works best on most of my tanks.

Thanks everyone :22:

All I did with this group was change my white balance to 4 from 6, and bumped the ISO up to 400. Seems to be the general setting that works best on my 100G so far. Need to see how it works on the other tanks :11:

Thanks everyone :22: Probably try the new settings on the other tanks later today and see how it goes.

Brook and CF have given me some great pointers on settings :11: But really this is not from photo skills or really knowing what Im doing, I give the camera the majority of the credit. The Vibration Reduction and the ability for the pics to sort of fix themselves during upload helps loads to. I am curious how a zoom lense and a macro is going to perform, as the kit 18-55mm AF-S Nikkor is a great general lense....it is a bit limiting at times.

I give'em a 8.1234567 out of 10, Jenn. Now compare that with my 2.111111 out of 10, just for reference. :hmm3grin2orange:

Must you be such a perfectionist at everything you do? :ezpi_wink1:

Thanks for the compliments all:22:

I am a die hard perfectionist, its probably one of my greatest faults. Fortunatly my perfectionism is centered only onto myself and the things that I do. My ISO varies alot, depending on tank and fish Ill shoot between 100-400. I also let the camera automatically pick its aperture, and adjust my white balance level also depending on tank. I also normally do not use flash. Here is a flash photo of my young female Vieja bifasciatus(finally got an ID, yay!):

Here is a non-flash photo of the same girlie,

There's definitely a time and place for the flash. Most of my favorite pics of fish (closeups) are with flash. Full view tanks are mostly with no flash because it makes the tank look un natural with the flash.

I also like how a flash can make shadows on the fish giving it a great 3D effect. I am always learning something new and when I do its very gratifying as I'm sure you already know!

Thanks everyone!:22: Im beginning to see that an overhead flash may be more necessary than more specialized lenses. Which will definatly be on my Xmas wish list lol

Some photos where the fash wasnt necessary:

I just saw one of those fish (the top picture) in the store the other day. It was quite big! They look kind of prehistoric! Cool fish!
