Found this and thought I'd share.. I don't like them, but it's odd nonetheless.

Are they a new man made concoction or something?
I have never heard of them yet seen one.
I no like either! Wrong shade, now blood red would be much nicer.

They do look like dull, washed-out fish... the best explanation of this that I could find came courtesy of frontosa.com

"Its a genetic mutation. In basic terms you need two compounds to create melanin which give fish the black colors. if you miss one you get brownish/orange. If you miss both you get yellowish/white.
The red frontosa is missing one part of the process."

Apparently they are man-made in thailand... go figure...

Interesting, had never seen those before. I like the traditional coloration myself.

Apparently they are a man made morph of the northern Burundi,
they don't go down very well with serious Front keepers although
I can see how some folk may be attracted to them.
not my cup of tea either i'm afraid!

Why they would do something like that to one of the kings of the aquarium is beyond me. It is just horrible, right up there with dyeing and tattooing fish.

I think the "panda" frontosa's are even worse (they're line bred to the extend that they're no longer striped, but have random blotches).

Havn't seen the panda fronts yet, but I can imagine I wouldn't like them either... you'd think their gorgeous purple-blue coloration would be enough??

That is just pure evil what they do to some of our beloved fronts. I saw them on another forum and couldn't believe it.
