So I have my 55g set up now! I need to buy some more accessories: such as plants and decor. Today to start out, fishwise, I got 6 zebra danios, and then 3 flying foxes.
I'll get some pictures up tonight or tomorrow, but what do you guys think? The following week i think I might get a little more colorful fish with a little more size but I'm not sure. What fish have you guys had good experiences with and are not that difficult to care for?
My goal is just a nice community tank with a good assortment of fish.
I know i was prob a little brief, but just ask and I'll answer thumbs2:

Congratulations thumbs2: on the new aquarium, I have only had my 30gallon for 2-3 weeks now, and it is a big change, and a lot of decisions to make.
Are you going to go with live plants? What are you looking to get into schooling fish? Livebearers? Cichlids?
I think Cichlids would look very cool in a 55 Gallon.

Thanks! Nah, I dont want to fool with live plants (lazy i guess) I just like artificial ones so i can focus on my fish more. Im looking to get into mostly schooling, with a few exceptions of course. I was thinking of maybe a few guppies but i know they might take over my tank  . I love cichlids, but I feel like I will enjoy a nice community tank more.

What's next is getting that tank cycled. And have a test kit. Too bad you didn't do a fishless cycle as you'll now have to watch your ammonia levels and may also have to do water changes to save those fish. I noticed when I cycled my 55 gallon, I had low toxic levels so hopefully this will not be a concern for you. Planting heavily can eliminate cycling in many cases.

After the tank is fully cycled look at some peaceful community fish. Guppys, platys, swordtails, danios, tetras etc. If you are worried about the guppys taking over just leave the fry alone in the tank. Most will get eaten and the population will remain under control
