on my 40g I have only a 50watt (I knw its wayyy bellow what I should have) and its doing a good job......
I hear some clicking sounds tht I was scared was the glass..... could it be the heater? from doing tht much work? the noise is just like a CLICK like usually I hear at night when going to sleep(tank right next to bed) like from 2 to 2 hours usually

That could be it switching on and off.

Probably the filter or the air pump. Heaters don't really tend to make noise unless something is SERIOUSLY wrong, like the glass is cracking or something ;)

You should be careful with that small of a heater. If your room temperature changes a lot - due to outside weather or heating changes - your fish are going to suffer.

EDIT: Oh Drummachine is right, it is probably that. I was thinking more of a continuous clicking.

nahh the heater is a visitherm stealth... its alluminum I think... I m sure its not glass... I will be getting a 150W heater soon
I dnt think its the filters cause I took both of them apart and nothing is wrong and I dnt see why the air pump would be clicking....
its more like a random click from like 2 hours 4 hours sometimes one after the other....
another concern is tht my tank is 1/4 inch off level... could it be the extra weight on one side making the glass click? i m scared about tht but I cnt figure out how to level my tank cause its on top of two nightstandsand I dnt want to risk leveling it and having the middle lower a little cause I think tht would mess up the tank more than this 1/4 inch off is

My heaters clcik when they turn on and off too.

If the glass is clicking though you have some serious problems. I would really try to level it.

Oh gads. I hope you are not getting a stress crack for being unlevel.

1/4 inch isn't much but I would be worried hearing that noise unless it could be the floor making those noises. One day when you have nothing to do, you might just want to set it up on blocks with slats going across. I totally tore my tank down twice and the whole process didn't take me even an hour.

I m worried because of tht.. if it wasnt tht 1/4 inch off level I wouldnt botherr about the clicking sound but its freaking me out.... since I set up the tank.... I will one day try out without the heater for some hours when I m home....
what I really wanna do is build one stand for me with adjustable feet tht way no matter where the tank is I can always get it leveled....
and the floor here is cement so its not the floor clicking....
I have in mind to built a stand out of 2x4s and enclose it with plywood with a finish so I can stain it.... I worked on wood framing for houses for a while so I think I can handle doing a stand for my tank.... LOL (I HOPE) hahhaha

You could use those bolt in legs, like on particle board desks and stuff. Framing houses is a fun job! I love those 4" nail guns!:hmm3grin2orange:

yeaa I liked working on framing and the nail guns are fun... but u got to watch out with them.... a lot of accidents happen when u get to confident with them......
I had a nail fly over my head almost hitting my face once... those one inch nails tht u use on the metal strips to hold the walls (dnt knw names in english... everyone is brazilian where I worked so we used to speak portuguese only...) I was putting them on and I hit the trigger and the gun wasnt straight so the nail rebounded on the metal and hit my HAT I was like OOOOOO $#!t......

ohhh and about the bolt in legs... thts what I had in mind but would they be able to hold the weight of the aquarium??? the ones I saw dont seem tht strong

OOOhh.
I heard some loud clicking coming from my tank today as well!

It clicked a good 5 times or so in 10 minutes. Don't know if it's the heater or what it is. I thought that a timer might need adjusted or something crazy, but it was pretty loud.

I'll have to do some research.

I haven't seen my heater light come on lately, but my temps have been checking out just fine.

Hrrmm..........

The glass on mine broke once and I didn't even know it. Just happened to see some glass laying in the tank.
