This stuff seems to work pretty darn well. I bought the small fish formula 4 days ago and have been feeding it exclusively instead of Tetra flakes as instructed. I haven't seen much improvement in coloration (as the gourami doesn't get a whole lot - need to buy the bigger pellets for him - and the cardinal tetras were already very red) but activity has gone up quite a bit, as the cardinals are schooling the whole length of the tank now instead of chilling on one side. We shall see what happens in another week :)

Funny thing is, I got worried when I first put the stuff in. All of the fish must have thought it was falling poop or something because they ignored it. Now they just dive for the stuff ;)

I guess this means I can no longer make fun of Reptileguy for advertising for NLS ...lol

what i use is that fish food "super soft". My auratus has awesome coloration from it, and so do my other fish. its moist and good fish food.

It's soft??? Doesn't sound like it'd do too good in water in terms of breaking down and all though lol.

I've seen that. I considered buying it, but chose the tetra flakes instead. :(

Hey adam, welcome back! Where've you been?

Big Als now carries New Life. I was just there ready to place an order and don't know what to get. My fish won't eat sinking stuff like granules. I was thinking of getting the NL garlic flakes but will probably get the large pellets. They don't have a lot of flake food so guess pellets is the way I'll go.

I just ordered some NLS cichlid pellets about a week ago... I wish the APO mailing system was faster!

I too just switched to NLS about a week ago. My fish love it. What I hate is how expensive and hard it is to find the Large pellets. I had to go with the medium/small pellets because I couldn't find the bigger ones around here. My oscars are large so they like their food to be too.

All in all it is good. The coloring seems to be getting a little brighter. It was bright to begin with. They do seem a little more active though then in the past. I was using Hiraki Gold Plus before hand.

When you need other things for your tank, order from Big Al's and add the food to your order. I buy most everything online due to nothing in my area.

How long do these pellets float? My angels eat from the top and won't rummage around for food in the gravel.

The small pellets sink, and the large pellets float. That is the only bad thing about NLS, I want floating small pellets and sinking large pellets. I emailed the owner and he said there are new foods that kind of do this, a large Thera A (the garlic enriched one to fight internal parasites) that sinks and a small semi-floating pellet. They coudl use some more variety in this aspect.

I stopped using flakes a long time ago. Even small fish can eat Hikari Gold baby sized pellets. They grab them and as they soften they eat what they can. Slows down fast eaters like danios and fills everyone up better.

I used Hikari and swore it was the best for the longest time, but this stuff exceeds Hikari by quite a bit. I see the best difference in my peacocks, but most of the stuff I feed it to have the best colors of that kind of fish I have seen except for breeders and hormone enhanced individuals. If you have not tried it yet, do so, worst case they have a money back guarantee (which you won't need).

I didnt know about the money back guarantee. That is pretty cool because the only thing that has been discouraging me from trying NLS is the price and the fear that my fish might not like it. Maybe ill give it a go!

I didn't realize the small cichlid pellets were THAT small! I just got mine in the mail yesterday and of course for my evening feeding of the malawi's had to try it out. It took the fish a minute to realize that those timy little specks were their food, but once they did, they devoured it just like anything else that's put into their thank.

One of my LFS feeds NLS to the fish in their display tanks and you can see a huge differents in the same breed of fish in their sale tanks. They have some serpae tetras in one display tank that are so red they don't even look like the same breed. I'm buying some of that food once my flakes run out.

Always check the size, and I go with bigger pellets, it slows down their eating since they have to grab one and run around with it while it softens enough to eat.

well reptileguy it looks like you won! You have everyone on this forum getting nls. And I have to hand it too you, I would have passed it up in the store if you didnt mention it on here. And I love the stuff.

I got the sinking small pellets and they seem to do fine in my 55g tank. The loaches get some off of the bottom, and the cichlids and tigerbarbs get it as it falls down.

Oh and with the small ones if you put your hand close to the water and barly drop them in they float longer.

Ive been working over time, going to school, keeping up my tanks, and hanging out with my gf thats why I havent been on much.

Everyone I talk to says it is hands down the best stuff out there. Just look at what they are saying in the testimonials section on the NLS website: nlpublish.com

Continue to feed them NLS. My community fish adapted after a few days and now dive after the stuff.
