What ya gonna put in it? Community, cichlids, discus? Gonna plant it? Man, the money for lights is a killer but this will be sooo awesome. Congrats Crack!

A planted 120g tank setup would be a real bank account buster ;)
I'm thinking maybe a giant african cichlid tank? Since it's such a huge tank you could make those slate backgrounds with maybe some java fern and moss wedged in there. That'd look pretty cool :)

I think I see the problem here...well for me anyway. I always want a bigger aquarium! I have a 75, and i know if I got a 120g I would again want a bigger one! That sounds like what you're going through, hobbs!

Congrats Crack! And the best part is yet to come....setting it all up, buying all the decor and plants.....and finally FISH!!
It took everything I had this weekend not to buy yet another puffer and set up yet another tank......they have been at the store since I bought my modestus and are in totally wrong conditions....hubby offered to buy him for me, but I have no idea where I would put another tank:confused:

Hey, you buy it, ill store it!
Congrats on the tank. There are two good things about getting a new tank.
1. You get to have all of the "fun" Setting it up, filling it, decorating it, and adding fish
2. Standing back, admiring your work, and then passing out from exhaustion.
Hey...I'm still on a high about the used 55 I just bought! Picking it up this weekend!!! thumbs2:

You have no idea of how you hit that on the head! I live in a one bedroom apartment. Small one at that. I thought it might be "cute" to have a little 10 gallon to look at. ppttfff! That lasted about 2 weeks and here come a 20 gallon. That had not even cycled yet and I had a 30 gallon.
I had just bought all new furniture for my apartment. The first to go was the wrought iron/glass coffee table that I just "had" to have. Next come the two matching end tables. Given to my son for his basement. Next was the recliner. He got that also as well as the area rug that was in the way of the tank stands. I am now down to a small entertainment center, a couch and one chair. My only table to put a lamp on is a folding TV stand but that's ok since my lamps went with my end tables. LOL
I have my 55 in the living room and now have room to add two more tanks alongside of it. I have moved the other three in my dinky bedroom that leaves me about 8 inches on both sides of the bed. GAWD.
I have room left for two 75 gallon tanks. My "plan" is for one to be for my angels, one for cichlids and then I will get rainbows to go with my silver dollars in the 55 gallon. That has got to be it for me! How many plugs can you hook up to one circuit breaker???? That part worries me the most.

It depends on the circuit breaker. It should say what it's rated for on the front. Otherwise check with your apartment owner so you don't keep popping it ;)

Thanks all, I will be taking my time setting it up, I want to try to get it right from the start, It will get the bigger fish from my currently overstocked tanks to start with (see sig), I want to go planted, but it will be a mix of real and fake, as silver dollars are hard on plants. I will try to post some pics of the progress.
Blackbeard, a 300G for $75?, you should be kicking yourself and hard. I paid $200AU to have this built, and that is cheap over here.
