How are you all getting those good pictures of your fish? I have a pretty nice digital camera and can use it for action shots, etc., but almost none of my fish pictures have turned out. Any advice would be appreciated!!!
Thanks!

For me i just zoom out and zoom in,
also depends on the camera.

Thank you! I'm going to need to fool with it some more I think. It's tricky for me right now to get the hang of it... I did a video and that turned out clear, but trying to get still pictures using either the auto or action settings on the camera hasn't been too successful yet. I'm using a Canon PowerShot S3 IS. There's a newer version of that camera, but so far (pre-fish), this one's worked great on horses for still and action shots so would rather not replace it.
Hi Jill,
Hey, short of taking a class, just play with the darn thing. I have a Canon Rebel and pretty much didn't know anything about cameras. Since there's no film to waste, I sat my butt down in front of my fish tank and just tried everything and observed what different settings did to the picture. And now, if I don't say so myselt, I don't take half bad photos!! Just keep playing with it and occasionally glance at the manual and you'll get it!!!
Good luck Jill (that's my sister's name btw LOL)

Even with some of the best DSLR models out there really good photo shoots you will end up with 1-2 really good pics out of every 10, so it does take time and patience. I personally like to keep my ISO between 200-400, depending on the tanks lighting and how dark/light colored the fish are, turn your flash and try to get your aperture setting as low as you can :22:
