Sorry to hear it!
Did you test your perameters yet?
What kind of cichlids?

That is sad. It may not have been stress, it was likely one of it's tankmates if you have mbuna. I take it you already know that 3 malawi cichlids in a 10g is a recipe for death. I would rehome the other two asap to someone who has a more appropriate tank.

i didnt test the perimeters and the cichlids that were in the tank were...
electric yellow cichlid
red zebra cichlid
Elongated Mbuna
the one that died was the electric yellow cichlid
I think the red zebra cichlid killed it because he is more dominate and is double the size of the other 2 cichlids

It will continue until there is only one....

I'm sorry for your loss...you may want to get rid of the other two before one kills the other...and then think of a good stocking for a 10 gallon. That way you will have a better 10 gallon with no aggression in it. If possible, move the other 2 cichlids to a larger tank, such as a 55+.

Larger tanks are recommended for some fish for many reasons.Just because they are small doesn't mean their attitudes are, their territorial needs should also be considered.
Sorry you had to learn this way!

All right, sounds like a plan! thumbs2: A gourami, preferably a dwarf, makes a great centerpiece fish for that size of a tank. :22:

The algae eaters suitable for a 20g would be otos.

You should try and get rid of the cichlids thru natural means tho - as opposed to just letting them die. Try posting on CL or taking them to a LFS for store-credit
