I picked up a two pack of lily bulbs this friday while I was at the pet shop. I know it's hit or miss with these things but I figured I would give them a try as I've been wanting to grow them again for a while now.

I planted the bulbs in my tank on Friday night and when I checked my tank this morning (less than 40 hours later) there is already a shoot coming out of the larger of the two bulbs! Awesome! I've been trying to find a nice deep red plant to use as a centerpiece in that tank for a while and now it looks like I might just have one (or two). :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Congratulations! I love lilly plants. They make for gorgeous center piece plants.

I'm glad yours is growing so quickly. It took about a week for my bulb to get to where yours is, but now I get a new leaf every three days.

Good luck with it.

Very cool.I found a trick to grow those bulbs once.Use a shallow glass baking pan with enough water to cover the bulbs, add a bit of liquid fert such as leaf zone and set them in a not too hot window sill.Let them sprout good then add them to the tank. This keeps the fish from messing with them.

Just an update. The bulb is doing AWESOME! There are at least 4 if not 5 or 6 individual sprouts on the bulb which I think will all become separate plants. I've used smaller bulbs like this in the past which gave a single plant but I've never had one bulb produce so many individual stems.
