cabomba

is cabomba brackish? i bought some from a freshwater tank yesterday, but read that they are brackish in a book. Its doing fine in my freshwater 20g, but does the brackish part matter?

AFAIK, all plants can tolerate a certain degree of salt in the water (maybe like 1.005 specific gravity) but the only one that does well in brackish is java fern.

Don't think so. It seems sensitive to temperature though, either too cold or too warm and it will go snotty and runny.

I have puple cabomba in my tank. Its been in there almost 2 weeks at about 80 degrees and has grown about 3 inches and seems really happy, so it should be fine.

Can i see a pic of your cabomba? From what I've read they grow easily. If it's too much trouble don't worry about it, no big deal!

i'll try when i come back on friday to get a pic. Im doing some late packing.

My 20g has two big potted plants on the bottom, and some other plant, with a huge driftwood chunk, and cabomba, watergrass, and a fake floating plant on top.

that's cool, take your time. I would like to have some of that stuff, but i can't spare the light hitting the bottom of the tank.

I have had very little growth in my cabombas since I got them in December. They only grow easily if you have bright lights. If you have weak lights like mine, they grow horribly
