My 29 gallon keeps getting ich. I do 1 water change every 2 week and regularly do Parameter test. I have had Ich in my tank for about 3 weeks. In the beggining I saw 3 Swordtails with 1 white spot each, but now there is only one swordtail with one white spot. I have done 5 doses of Formalin(37% Formaldehyde). I have lost 4 fish. 2 Peral Gouramis, 1 Red Swordtail and 1 Lepard Cory catfish.

What is your water temp? How spread apart are these doses? How long did you dose for? It sounds like the same ich outbreak is reinfecting your fish again and again.

Also, when did you set this tank up, how did you cycle it, and how long did you have fish in it? If you went with the store or manufacturers instructions of letting the filter run for a day or two and then add fish, you didn't cycle the tank and now your fish are susceptible to many diseases they may have normally been able to fight off.
IME, which is limited, I have been able to fight off ICK by catching it early, several water changes (daily til no more signs of ICK, every other for a week or 2), increased temps and stresscoat. Neither time have I ever seen ICK return. And right now I am crossing my fingers because my clown loaches have been around for 6 months and they are NOTORIOUS for ICK.
If you did not properly cycle your tank you need to read up on the nitrogen cycle, get your water test kit, answer the above Q's, post your water parameters and we might be able to help you from there.

I am wondering if you could be seeing fungus instead of ick. It would be unusual to see only one white spot on a fish with ick. This stuff spreads and effects fish like crazy and after 3 weeks they should be either dead by now or covered with it. ICK reproduces by the thousands.

Ick looks like finely sprinkled sparkie salt. Fungus may be just a white patch here and there and sometimes in moldy or fuzzy looking.

This link will tell you all about ICK and it's life cycle which may shed some light on your problem.

As you will read from this article, ICK is not gone when you don't see it on the fish. It's reproducing itself in the bottom of the tank which is the only area it can be destroyed.

I have had the tank for 6 months already. I did a "real cycle" did not add fish till all my meters were perfect. Now I think about it like you say it may not be Ich because when I get Ich it's a lot of white spots and the fish get skinny.

My temp is at 81F I did 5 doses everyother day 2 drops per gallon. It does not seem like it's helping and more fish keep dieing.
