Well, as a downside to working 50+ hours a week, going to school nearly full time at night and taking care of a 2 yr old, I've decided it may be best to downsize from 3 tanks to just 1. I've decided to take down my 55g african mnuba tank, and my 35 community, staying up will be my 46 live planted Amazon style tank.
I have a few questions about tank storage.. I have plenty of my room in my attic for these tanks to store them. However, it's not heated in there, and will likely see near freezing to slightly below freezing temperatures fluctuating frequently in the attic.. will this harm the tanks?
Also, my 46g has 6 skunk cories, 3 keyholes, 1 gold veiltail, 1 spotted raphael, 1 marble hatchet, and one remaining khuli loach.... any ideas for an additional tankmate??

Hmmmm, well I'd rule out anymore cichlids since, while dwarfs, Keyholes are on the large end of the scale and the Angel will grow decently large for that tank. Maybe another school of cories or an addition to the existing one. Also a school of tetras would be a nice addition too . Just no neons.

I'd love to have another cichlid.. maybe more angels, but your right, there would be some aggression issues.
I like the idea of tetras... but I'm thinking cardinals.. which would probably wind up as food for the angel... maybe I'll just get one or two and see if that works.

Could go for the tall bodied types, I'm sort of partial to them because they don't tend to become lunch as readily as some of the thinner bodied species. I think the Columbian tetras are very nice looking, and really like Serpaes and Von Rios. Some of the larger thin bodieds like rummy noses would be good choices so long as you can find them big enough.

Kuhli loaches need to be in groups as well, so I would get another 4. Same for hatchets.

I am aware these fish need to be in groups.. I have tried several times to get a school of hatchets going.. but they never survive, or jump out during the night (and yes the tank is well covered haha) Believe it or not, my one lone one seems to be happy... hes always playing in the current and eats well... it just seems to do better with just him.
And its hard to find khuli loaches around here, but he seems to be doing ok anyway.. eats, swims around.. not stressed, they're really okthumbs2:
But I would love to get more khulis, if I ever see some for sale I'll pick some up.
Would congo tetras be too big?
