Well...this weekend is the All Cleveland Reptile show and I have been looking forward to getting a Ball Python! My g/f and I have been looking to get one of the more "rare" color/pattern morphs of this snake. I have just been really excited about this, so I figured I would post and let you all know. The show is on Sunday, so as long as they have what we are looking for...there should be some pics up Sunday night! Wish me luck! :19:

Good luck snake hunting Jordan! thumbs2: I've always fancied the rainbow boas myself...

I love the Rainbows as well, but they can be quite moody. I dont mind getting bitten myself, but my g/f wants to handle her too.

Unfortunately she'll be going in my Rhoms old tank. We hope to eventually find a nice male to go with our female (were hoping to get a girl on Sunday). Then we would like to do some breeding...see what colors we can come up with. That's all down the road though.

What morph are you looking for?

I ended up getting a female spider and a male pastel het. hypo/ghost. I plan on breeding these two in the future...hoping to create some bumble bees! The female is 4 days old and the male is about 2 months old.

Let us know when they are eating.

Male ate a hopper today. The breeder informed us to leave the female alone until she sheds. Then he said to wait another week to feed. He is a local breeder and has been more than helpful. I will update when she is feeding though.

You have it good if your wife is willing to handle your snakes as well!:hmm3grin2orange:
I have seen many wait in the other room!:hmm3grin2orange:

It's my g/f for now (title may be changing fairly soon though), but she's the one that talked me into them. It didnt take much talking though...I have loved snakes forever! I actually used to assist in the studies of Tmber Rattlers in PA for a few years.

Just a quick update. It looks as though the young female should be having her first shed within the next few days. Hopefully it goes well, then I can offer her her first meal sometime next week. Fingers crossed!

Hope it goes well. My current snake was the worst shedder as a baby. For the first few months I had to soak her in water during the shed.

Other people cuddle with their kitties and their dogs while watching TV...I was cuddling a snake in a bucket in of water (to keep her warm)...

LOL! That's funny! I have been placing damp paper towels inside her hide box to elevate the humidity. Hopefully this makes the process a little easier and less stressful.

She successfully completed her first shed last night! Now I hope she starts feeding when I offer her food for the first time!

Sounds like you're doing everything right demjor. She should eat when offered I'm sure! Keep up the good work. The wet paper towels to elevate humidity was a great trick. Keep us updated. thumbs2:

Did you get to watch the moulting?

What do you plan on feeding her?
Lil baby bunnies or some squinty eyed rats?:hmm3grin2orange:

Probably start her out on some little fuzzie mice...and no, I did not get to watch her moult. She did it sometime between 1 in the morning and 6 in the morning.

Congrats!!! I missed this thread because I was away last week. I have a normal phase female, I'll have had her 8 years in November! Your pair is beautiful, I've always liked just plain old ghosts, not sure why. I think it's a color thing, lol. Spiders are awesome too, and babies are SO cute! Did your female have her first shed before you brought her home? I've been out of the ball-python loop for a while and I can't remember all the techincal breeding stuff (like how old before they can have a new home, lol) Good luck with your future breeding project, sounds like fun :)

Thanks!

I took my female home at four days old (not normally advisable to take them until they have at least shed and fed a few times), but she has since successfully shed and we are going to try feeding her tonight for the first time. fingers crossed!

Do you have any pics of yours? How big is she after 8 years?

Yay! Awesome news! :)

Eleanor is right at the 4' mark, I have no idea how much she weighs though. I took these pics last spring

Thanks! I'm excited to breed them, but it's obviously going to take quite a while for them to be ready. I guess it gives me plenty of time to get all of the required equipment needed for breeding.
