Hi all you fish lovers thumbs2:

I have had a 110 liter tank with fancy goldfish and shubunkins for a year and a half and must say that it is a very rewarding hobby.

I would like to start keeping Neons, but I have a few questions first:
How many Neons can I safely keep in a 35 liter (7.7 gallon) tank?
Can I keep different kinds of Neons in one tank? For example can I have neon tetras with cardinal tetras?
Can I use the same Tetra products that I have been using for my other tank? I use Tetra Easy Balance and Tetra Aqua Safe.
Must the water be heated, and if so, what is the ideal temp?
I have Amazon Sword plants in the goldfish tank, can I plant these in the Neon tank? What other plants are recommended to keep with Neons?

I would say 6 neons in that size tank.

You can mix them but you do not have the room.

You can use the products, a heater would be good. 75-78F is a good temperature.

You can use any aquatic plant you want but an amazon sword will out grow that little tank pretty quick.

Thats a small tank. Like rich said, 6 or so should be fine, but you'd better stick to one species

Welcome to the Fabulous AC!:22:
Your tank would be fine for a betta but I would think that it is too small for tetras.
A ten is pushing it for these fish.A 24" tank is reccomended.

I agree with everybody else here.

If you keep 8 Neon Tetras you should be fine. I do not reccomend kepping any fish other than Neon Tetras because every schooling fish needs a school of its own and you would not have room for two schools.

An amazon sword would be fine but it get quite big quickly so you can put one in but you are going to have to take it out later. I reccomend anubias plants as they are very hardy and small.

You need to make sure you have the right lighting though, so please be sure of that.

6-8 and nothing else imo. Really if the tank doesnt have one side thats 18-20 inches I wouldnt do them either. Maybe look into some micro fish

I seem to be handing this link out a lot lately. Here are some smaller fish that would look great in that size tank. [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]

Enjoy. :22:

I love that list every time I see it but there are problems of availability IMO, it can be very hard to get some of these 'nano' fish.
